New Cutting Table

Look what Todd made me for my sewing room quilting studio . . .

He took an old dresser that we don't use any more and put a nice big piece of laminated wood on top of it and then put it on a pedestal so it would be the perfect height for a cutting table!  It also has drawers that I'm going to store some of my quilty stuff in!

Up until now I've been cutting everything by sitting on the floor with my cutting mat, rotary cutter and fabric.  Now I won't get a sore back from leaning over while cutting!  LOVE IT!!!

What a great husband I have!!!  Thanks, Todd!!!  :o)

Cambria's Easter Skirt . . . LOL

I know it's way past Easter, but I thought you could all use a good laugh today, so I'm going to show you the Easter skirt I made my granddaughter, Cambria.  I originally posted about the fabric and pattern here.

Well here is the skirt.  Isn't it cute???  I really like how it turned out, especially since I've never sewn clothes before!!!

I love the colors and prints in this fabric!  Just perfect for this little skirt!  Well now let me show you something that isn't so perfect . . .

Look how big this "little" skirt turned out to be!  LOL!!!  :o)  I was trying to make this a surprise for my granddaughter and daughter so I just guessed what the waist and length should be!!!  I was the one who was surprised when she put it on!  It's a couple of inches too big around the waist and, obviously, several inches too long!  Ha!!!  :o)  We all cracked up when she put it on and we saw how big it was!!!  :o)  She had fun parading around showing it off and making us laugh!  Great memories!!!

I guess the positive side to all of this is I won't have to make her an Easter skirt in two or three or four years!  See . . . I didn't mess up . . . I'm just really prepared!  :o)

Loving My Postman

Well, not loving the Postman, just loving what he brought today!

I won this darling chef's hat and gift card to Papa Murphy's Pizza from Yumm Yumz By Patticakes!  Isn't this the cutest thing ever?!?!?  :o)

Here's a close up of the chef's hat!  So cute!

My granddaughter, Cambria, had to try it on for size - fits perfect because there is velcro on the back so you can adjust it!!!  :o)  She's going to love this hat when cooking with Grandma (me!) and I'm going to love the gift card!!!  :o)

OK . . . You've gotta check this out!  Look at the comment Pauline from Quilt -n- Queen posted on Yumm Yumz By Patticakes blog the day of the giveaway . . .

Yes...your chef hat and my tea toweling apron would make a great gift set. Great timing of our tutorials...have a wonderful day.

You're not going to believe this, but I won the "gift set" she was joking about!  What are the odds?!?!?  So, yes, I also won this incredible fabric from Pauline at Quilt -n- Queen!

Check out the darling tea toweling apron I get to make using this great tutorial here!

I LOVE IT!  I wonder if I'll look that skinny wearing my apron when it's done!  LOL!!!  :o)  I'm so excited to make this!  I'm sure it'll help all my meals taste better!  :o)

Thank you so much for these fun gifts!  :o)

Piggy Tales

I'm so excited to have this quilt done!  It was so fun to make!  It's also the first quilt I ever quilted all by myself on my sewing machine!  I don't think I did too bad for my first time?!?!?

It's called "Piggy Tales" from My Lazy Daisy and turned out to be the perfect size for a baby quilt!  (Or a teenage daughter who can't stop cuddling with it!!!)  :o)

This is the back of the quilt . . . all full of minky goodness!  Have any of you sewn with minky before?  I LOVE the feel of minky (I walk down the minky aisle at the fabric store just so I can run my hand along each bolt!), but sewing with it is a bit more tricky than sewing with cotton.  It just didn't "slide" around as I was trying to quilt a simple meandering pattern.  I probably definitely need more practice with quilting, but it was fun for me to see that I CAN ACTUALLY DO IT!!!  :o)

This is a close up shot of the flowers.  I love how they turned out when the quilt was washed!  The kit for "Piggy Tales" already had the flower circles cut out for me so that saved a LOT of time when I put this all together!

This was a quick, easy quilt to finish!  And, most of all, I think it turned out pretty cute!!!  :o)

My Lazy Daisy

WOW!  What a fun great awesome INCREDIBLY AMAZING week I've had!  I went to St. George, Utah, last week to begin my newest adventure in the quilting world!  I am now a consultant for My Lazy Daisy!!!

I am sooooo excited!!!  This company has taken the idea of "home parties" and cranked it up a notch and is offering "trunk shows" for all of us who love quilting!  All they sell are kits for quilts, wall hangings, aprons, bags, pre-cut fabric . . . the list goes on and on!  You've gotta check out the My Lazy Daisy Catalog for yourself and see all the eye candy going on over there!!!

This quilt is called "Piggy Tales" and I'm hopefully finishing it today!  It's the first quilt I'll ever quilt myself so wish me luck!!!  The back is minky-heaven!  Isn't it the cutest thing ever?!?!?  :o)

I made this bag on Tuesday at a mini-quilt retreat I went to!  It only took me a couple of hours to make and is sooooo sweet!!!  I'm in LOVE with this fabric!!!  :o)

When I'm done with the the "Piggy Tales" quilt, I'm going to work on the "Liberty Logs" wall hanging next!  I can't wait!  I've never made a log cabin block before so I'm anxious to make this beauty!  Oh yeah . . . guess what???  This wall hanging is on sale for the month of April . . . $20 off!!!  YES!!!  I LOVE SALES!!!  :o)

The really cool thing about these kits is they have everything you need to complete your project!  It includes all the fabric for the quilt top, borders, binding AND backing!  It also includes the pattern!  All you have to supply is the type of batting you want to use!  So convenient!!!  I live in a rural area (1,200 people in my town - and I love it!) and we don't have a quilt store right around the corner to go shopping for all of my quilting gotta-haves!  Because of this I do a lot of my shopping online.  Now with My Lazy Daisy I'm able to get everything I need in one place!!!

I've added a My Lazy Daisy button at the top of my blog so you can head over to my website and drool over the catalog by clicking on the "Shop Online" button.  If you would like to "E-mail Me" any questions you may have or set up a trunk show in the comfort of your own home, just click that button (bottom of the website).  How would you like to become a My Lazy Daisy Consultant just like me?  Just click on the "Join Now" button (bottom of the website)!  You won't believe the compensation plan!!!  It's great for my quilt addiction!  :o)

Have fun looking around!

Catch Up Time

Oh wow!  I have so much to catch up on in my little quilty world!  :o)

First of all, I want to thank everyone for the comments and personal e-mails you've sent me concerning my grandson, Ridge.  For some reason blogger wasn't sending all of the comments on my blog to my e-mail address, so I'm sorry I didn't reply!  :/  Anyway, he's doing GREAT and I know it's because of the love and support and prayers that all of our friends and family offered in his behalf!  A BIG HEART-FELT THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU!!!

Now to the fun stuff!!!  I won this darling mouse (I NEVER EVER thought I'd call a mouse "darling!"  Blick!!!) from Sinta Renee over at Pink Pincushion!

I won the cute little gray guy in front!  He even came with a mouse trap snapped on his tail!  I think I'll keep it there so he doesn't get away from me!  Thanks, Sinta Renee!!! :o)

Next, I won this awesome book from Jo's Country Junction

You should see all the cute projects inside!!!  I can't wait to get started on some of them!!!  Thank you, Jo, for such a great book!!!  :o)

Then I won a Lapel Stick from Debi Quilts!  You can go here to see what they do!  Thanks, Debi!!!  :o)

Next, I won a beautiful pattern called "Triangle-Confusion" from Double Nickel Quilts!  For some reason I can't copy a picture of the quilt so you're going to have to go over to their blog and check it out!  It looks so cool!  Great stash buster!  Thanks, Candace!!!  :o)

Finally, I want to send out a BIG THANK YOU to Gene over at Gene Black: An Alabama Artist and Quilter for helping me with an embroidery question!  You all know I'm fairly new to quilting and I was having trouble with something I'm working on.  After looking online for quite a while I finally gave up and decided to go right to the expert embroidery guy, Gene!  He doesn't even know me, but I sent him an e-mail and about two minutes later (I'm not kidding!) he responded with the answer to my question!!!  I couldn't believe it!!!  You've gotta go check out his blog and see everything he does!  He's awesome!!!  Thanks, Gene!!!  :o)

This is all I'm going to blog about right now.  I have two other things to write about, but I'm leaving bright and early in the morning (Yikes!  In just a few hours!) for several days to go to St. George, Utah, and I've gotta get some sleep.  There's some exciting things brewing in St. George, so if all goes well I'll let you in on it when I get back!

Have fun quilting while I'm gone!  :o)

Hugs!
